Regrouping

So, as I write this, today is September 5, 2023. On the first of this month, I had intended to write a post on how I like 1st's of a month because I tend to look at them as sort of a reset in order to recommit to my goals - much like the first of a new year. However, I never even got around to making the post until now.  What's holding me up? In a word, procrastination (well that, and severe addiction to social media). In a post written by a new DW acquaintance, she said how she would would write a thing down that she wanted to get accomplished and date the thing for the next day and cross it off once that task is accomplished.  I think I need to borrow that idea and try it myself.  Recently, I came across a YouTube video (which I have yet to watch) by Mayim Bialek in which the video is entitled something to the effect "I unplugged for two weeks and the craziest thing happened." I don't quite know what it's about but I suspect it has something to do with getting away from social media for a while.  If so, I would like to do something similar but don't think I can go two weeks - perhaps I can try a day or two.

Within the next day or two, I am going to take the plunge and join the National Genealogic Society (NGS) and take the initial training course. Even though I have dabbled in the genealogy hobby for close to thirty years, I don't consider myself anywhere near an expert in the field. I'm sure I can pick up a few pointers here and there.  Say, speaking of YouTube, I'm toying with idea of starting a YouTube channel surrounding my genealogy hobby.  I know there are others out there, but maybe I can focus it on my specific research and specific names that I researched.

Well, that's all I have for now. How's your week going so far?
