Better Sleep...and Genealogy

I managed to sleep better last night than the night before. I did attempt to not use my cell phone when I went to bed but that didn't work out as expected. I didn't go so far as to put my phone in another room like I planned, but I did, however, turn it off. However, I forgot about one thing - I have a tablet, that I ultimately reached for. When I laid down, I found myself wide awake even though I was exhausted. I justified reaching for the tablet because I was hoping it would make my eyes tired and also because it is heavier and I figured I wouldn't be on it for very long. That turned out to be somewhat true but not for that reason. There was a problem with the wi-fi from my service provider and the internet was not connecting to anything. So, naturally, I had to get up and turn my phone on to see if that had problems connecting to the internet. It didn't. Boy, trying to quit a bad habit cold turkey is certainly very difficult! I'm still going to try again tonight.
I had a difficult time with "stomach" problems last night to the problem that I finally took an Imodium tablet. It did the trick. Interestingly, it also made me tired so I was able to go right to sleep. At least, I didn't reach for a melatonin pill. I had been reluctant to take Lactaid pills because, for some reason, I had it my mind that it was a drug and would interfere with my other medications. It's not - it's a supplement. I actually have Equate. So, for the first time, I'm going to try to have one of those with my dinner tonight and see how I fare. I think the only thing I'm going to have tonight that has any lactose in it will be milk. Keeping my fingers crossed that it works out well for me.
Yesterday, I was looking at the website of the National Genealogical Society. I think I'm going to become a member. More so, to take advantage of discounts they have for their courses. I'm not sure what I might get out of their course since I've been genealogical research on my family for quite some time now (well over twenty-five years) to the point that I consider myself an intermediate genealogist. Even so, I think I will start with their Foundational Courses (they have 101, 102, and 103) - I figure there will always be something new I can learn in the field of genealogy. They also have an advanced skills class that upon completion, one can earn a certificate. I'm not sure if the Foundational courses award a certificate upon completing them or not.
Well, that's about all I have to say for now. How was your week?
